Hello there, so I just shared a comment on a post asking what depression is. I want to share it here. If you like, please can you share it too. I think it can really help people struggling...
Depression is where an individual feels so emotionally, mentally, spiritually and sometimes physically DRAINED - for a long period of time. It becomes a way of life, a personality trait adapted - tending not to feel any hope that things can and will get better. Isolating oneself away from the world and people, because their mental health has suffered so much, that it becomes so much effort to go out and an anxiety provoking, negative experience. A person with depression is likely to turn to easy, often harmful ways of coping, such as smoking, drinking, drugs, spending etc. Also is more likely to turn negative thoughts and feelings inwards - which accompanies loss of self-love, self-esteem & confidence etc. which all contributes to the depression getting worse. You could feel absolutely nothing positive towards your self and treat yourself like garbage. Not giving yourself a chance with anything. No self encouragement.
I enjoyed writing that 😊
My kind wishes to everyone suffering with their mental health. Always try your best to never lose hope, to stop hurting yourself - it's not your fault, and it is so counter productive to hurt yourself (in so many different ways, e.g self neglect). That you are worth every bit of effort to help yourself! And most importantly - YOU CAN DO ANYTHING you put your mind to and channel your focus on.
